If you were to design a city that has all of nature's best attributes and meets the needs of a diverse population, we'd dare say it has already been done and it's called St. Petersburg. People who live here love it. Businesses that locate here stay. And visitors that come here keep returning or relocate here. This article has been written to give you some of the links to details you will want to know before relocating to St. Petersburg. What we have tried to do is provide you with the information to answer some very basic questions to help you with your decision. It might help to know too, that our residents are largely, people just like you. People who for the most part were born in another region of the country or world, with some ties to Florida through relatives, friends, education or business. Some arrive with a plan, while others arrive with a pioneer spirit. We welcome both. St. Petersburg was named by one of our area's prominent railroad developers, Peter Demens. He named it after his home city in Russia (now our sister city). In the early 1900's St. Petersburg experienced a tremendous land boom, attracting people from all over the nation to our "Sunshine City" in our "Sunshine State". This steady development has continued to this day, thanks to favorable weather, beautiful beaches and a strong economic climate. St. Petersburg is one of Tampa Bay's most developed areas. St. Petersburg is easily accessible to Clearwater, Sarasota, Tampa and Orlando. We have fabulous restaurants, world class hospitals and an extremely easy to navigate road system. We have many fun attractions, museums, parks and beaches. We have stunning sunrises at our world renowned Pier and breath taking sunsets from the famous Don Caesar Hotel on St. Petersburg Beach.
